Too Obvious To Notice

Indeed, that which is basic is the one we hardly notice. Before, I thought meditation was as simple as closing the eyes and being silent, but silence itself was hard work...it isn't as easy as it seems to be. Just like breathing... it's something that we do everyday and yet days would pass without us even paying the least attention to it...

Everyday, I am engaged in a miracle which I don't even recognize.

I walked at 5,30 this morning with my mom and I enjoyed each step I took with her.As we did this, I listened to my heartbeat  and as sweat was released, I felt an energy surged within me. I felt it all throughout my body. I read the Bible passage for the day and had a light conversation with Jesus. I ate my breakfast without haste, took my shower---caressing my body with the liquid soap, spent time with my blush on and lip balm---recognizing each stroke I made.

I loved each people I encountered this day. Smiles were exchanged with strangers. I spent time listening to my colleagues' various colorful stories. Towards the end of the day, I had slight misgivings at work. I knew I spoke firmly but I maintained my cool and breathed it out...

Each moment was spent freely... with awareness...of the other...

God I love You so much...loving these people You love. I experienced inner PEACE --- recognizing each feeling I have and letting them slip away... making space for others' emotions... and being patient...

For the first time my restless heart took repose...

-----------------------------------------------
Be still and know that I am God...
Be still and know that I am...
Be still and know...
Be still...
BE...

-Psalm 46,10  ( Italics from the book, Experiencing God)

  1. Your faith is strong and it makes you a strong person! Your views are admirable and your nieces will benefit from them. The inner peace you mention is something most all find somewhere and somehow in our lives. I worry about the ones that never do and what pain they bring to others!

  2. You area strong person Melissa, someone who is so close to God,and with the kind of values u hold, you and your family will be blessed..Above all else, know this: Be prepared at all times for the gifts of God and be ready always for new ones. For God is a thousand times more ready to give than we are to receive.

  5. "Everyday, I am engaged in a miracle which I don't even recognize."

    I love this phrase, Melissa.

Your post is a lovely reminder that miracles are all around us...in everyday experiences. How wonderful it is when we take time and appreciate them...as you have described and shared with us. Keep shining dear one!

  6. This was simply beautiful Melissa! It described the journey of mindfulness, finding God in every moment and extending His love and compassion to others that share brief moments with us throughout our days. You have such a beautiful faith and I always love hearing your reflections and experiences. This post caused me to take a deep breath and center myself, something I hadn't done for a few hours and desperately needed to do! Thank you! :)

  8. It is a wonderful feeling to know that God loves us! We are so blessed Melissa! I find meditation very difficult. I am so restless and like you say it is HARD work. I often find meditation in other forms like a long walk alone with my thoughts. That works better for me than sitting still in one place :)

  9. Melissa, I love how you took Psalm 45: 10 to heart.
Be still and know that I am God...
Be still and know that I am...
    Be still and know...
    Be still...
    BE...

Your message conveys the art of practicing the presence of God. In meditation, emptying the mind of thoughts is difficult though – oh I agree 100%! I try it every day, and sometimes I’m able to achieve inner solitude for maybe 10 seconds :) But the point is to sit with him and be still anyway. Whether we find absolute stillness in the moment or not.

I feel a post coming on of my own now… COMING SOON…THE STILL POINT. I have a poem by this title. It was written about a time I was searching for inner peace, and didn’t quite realize that peace could only come from within. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
