Road to Fifty Reflections: Day 28

Whenever we celebrate the Feast of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, I am reminded of God’s unfathomable love and mercy poured out through the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I think of St. Claude de la Colombière, her spiritual director, who helped her recognize how deeply Jesus longs for every heart to return to Him. With her feast, I am also encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Penance... that sacred encounter where Jesus not only forgives but chooses to forget our sins.

This day is special to me for another reason: my niece was born on this feast day and received her second name from me ~ Margaret ~ in honor of this saint. Each year, her birthday reminds me that God’s mercy continues to flow from generation to generation.

May she be blessed with an abundance of love, mercy and a deep devotion to the Heart of Jesus.

Lord Jesus, make my heart like Yours... humble, forgiving, and full of mercy. Teach me to love as You love, to forgive as You forgive and to trust completely in Your Sacred Heart. May Your love overflow in me and in all those You have entrusted to my care. Amen.

I had a very lively discussion with my mom early this morning. We ate "current issues" for breakfast ~ same sex marriages, relationships, single parenthood, life back then and now. I asked how she and dad reached forty-one years together ~ it wasn't an easy life. She said the younger generation either fears or eschews "sacrifice" and 'self-denial' ~ those are important ingredients to family life ~ sacrifice is the language of love [cf Bishop James Conley]. Sacrifice took a new meaning in my life when I discerned to become a single celibate ~ gone was a life of security, of forming a family, of having children... the Lord gave me "other" families and children. 1 February 2012 I woke up with a big smile today and greeted everybody with so much happiness that one colleague asked me if I were in a 'new' relationship.  by Syed Alfandi Mansor Well... I am.  I found myself immersed in LIFE ~  This morning, I had my shoes almost ripped off in the train station. I wasn't exactly smiling at the person who did it. In fact, I squirmed my way towards the second floor. Ooo, it has been like this since the day I started working two years ago. The only difference is, people started forming a line  'lines'. I wanted to take a picture and post it as a Friday moment or suggest it to be a part of  our "It's more 'FUN' in the Philippines" tourism campaign.  I 'survived' entering the train. Sometimes I wish...

We're halfway through our Blog Hop I'm the 14th among 28 beautiful souls participating in this event. I wrote this as I read Mary's post over her blog  Living with Food Allergies and Celiac Disease   . I am humbled and touched by your kindness Mary. You are so loved BS! Thank you! ----- I used to ask God for enormous things like a 'stigmata' (either on my left or right hand).  Just like the one San Francesco and Padre Pio had... Or  an apparition from an angel ...   I thought it might help me gain respect from other people... or perhaps God will protect me from life's harsh realities because I bear Christ's wounds...
