Road to Fifty Reflections: Day 35

The struggle

The pain is back.. and so are the moods, the noise within and around me, the careless throwing of garbage, the stress. Some days seem lighter, but before long, everything returns to what feels like “normal”... a normal that sadly includes the daily disregard for others’ space, order and peace.

Yet today, I realize the difference lies not in the noise but in how I choose to respond. I may fall, but I can always rise again because my heart belongs to the Lord. His love steadies me when everything else feels unstable. His grace reminds me that peace is not the absence of chaos but the calm found in trusting Him amid it all.

Faith is not about escaping the mess of life. It is about finding meaning and strength within it. When I shift my gaze back to God, everything else fades in comparison. Love always outweighs the noise.

Lord, thank You for the reminder that Your presence is my peace. Help me and all who feel weary today, to return to You whenever the world feels heavy. Teach us to choose compassion over complaint, patience over pride, and stillness in the midst of storm. May we see You even in the ordinary and may Your love shine through us, especially when it’s hardest to love. Amen.

I had a very lively discussion with my mom early this morning. We ate "current issues" for breakfast ~ same sex marriages, relationships, single parenthood, life back then and now. I asked how she and dad reached forty-one years together ~ it wasn't an easy life. She said the younger generation either fears or eschews "sacrifice" and 'self-denial' ~ those are important ingredients to family life ~ sacrifice is the language of love [cf Bishop James Conley]. 1 February 2012 I woke up with a big smile today and greeted everybody with so much happiness that one colleague asked me if I were in a 'new' relationship.  by Syed Alfandi Mansor Well... I am.  I found myself immersed in LIFE ~  This morning, I had my shoes almost ripped off in the train station. I wasn't exactly smiling at the person who did it. In fact, I squirmed my way towards the second floor. Ooo, it has been like this since the day I started working two years ago. The only difference is, people started forming a line  'lines'. Sometimes I wish...

We're halfway through our Blog Hop I'm the 14th among 28 beautiful souls participating in this event. I wrote this as I read Mary's post over her blog  Living with Food Allergies and Celiac Disease   . I am humbled and touched by your kindness Mary. You are so loved BS! Thank you! ----- I used to ask God for enormous things like a 'stigmata' (either on my left or right hand).  Just like the one San Francesco and Padre Pio had... Or  an apparition from an angel ...   I thought it might help me gain respect from other people... or perhaps God will protect me from life's harsh realities because I bear Christ's wounds...
